Across MultiLX’s seven case studies, our team have been working with young people and creative practitioners to explore multilingualism, identity, and belonging through a range of artistic practices. From music, dance, and body percussion to photography, film, and digital storytelling, these creative collaborations have created spaces for young people to express themselves, share experiences, and explore their relationships with language. In Turin, Berlin, Switzerland, Santiago de Compostela, Catalonia, Northern Norway, and Romania, arts-based research has opened up new perspectives on linguistic diversity, language revitalisation, and intercultural connection. By moving beyond linguistic modes of expression, we are discovering how young people use creative strategies to negotiate identities, build relationships, and challenge assumptions about legitimate language use.
