Poster for Autumn 2026 Seminar 4: Sociolinguistics of sport and dance in dialogue: Conversations with Merchu Remón and how to turn ethnography into dance

Abstract: This dialogue explores the innovative collaboration between ethnographic sociolinguistic research and the performing arts. Through conversations with Merchu Remón, we examine the practical and theoretical journey of translating sociolinguistic ethnography into physical movement and choreography. The session directly addresses the inherent dilemmas and methodological complexities that arise when merging these two distinct disciplines. Ultimately, it highlights the unique insights, embodied discoveries, and new perspectives generated by bringing qualitative research and dance into a shared, interdisciplinary space.
