Hearing the Voices of Young Asylum Seekers
Hearing the Voices of Young Asylum Seekers (Hear) is a collaborative spoken word and visual arts project, co-developed by the University of Warwick and BIRCH (the Birmingham Community Hosting Network). Bringing together fifteen unaccompanied young asylum seekers with Birmingham-based poets Jasmine Gardosi and Ayan Aden, the project explores themes of welcome, connection and home through creative workshops, spoken word poetry and photography.
The young people’s creative work will be showcased in an immersive public exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in 2027.
Through partnership between young people, artists, community organisations and cultural institutions, Hear aims to celebrate young people’s creativity, amplify their voices and inspire dialogue and action towards more welcoming and inclusive communities.
