Autumn 2026 | Languages, Sport and Youth in Minority Language Contexts

Resum: Aquesta sessió es planteja com una taula rodona en què els entrenadors Marta López Arias i Guillem Rocas Sumoy establiran un diàleg obert amb l’investigador Víctor Corona. A través d’aquest intercanvi reflexiu, els participants compartiran les seves experiències directes en l’àmbit de l’esport de base i adaptat, reflexionaran sobre la situació actual i els reptes de la pràctica esportiva a la nostra societat i valoraran l’impacte d’haver format part del treball de camp i de la recerca lingüística i social duta a terme als seus respectius clubs.

Abstract: This session is designed as a round-table discussion where coaches Marta López Arias and Guillem Rocas Sumoy will engage in an open conversation with researcher Víctor Corona. Through this reflective dialogue, the speakers will share their firsthand experiences in youth and adaptive sports, discuss their views on the current state and societal role of sports practice today, and reflect on their participation in the ethnographic and linguistic research conducted within their respective sports clubs.

Marta López Arias: Graduate in Social Integration and current Primary Education student (specializing in Special Education and Diversity). With over 5 years of experience coaching adaptive athletics, she currently coordinates the adaptive sports department at Club Atletisme Nou Barris (CANB). Her career bridges education, social inclusion, and youth sports mediation.

Guillem Rocas Sumoy: Senior Football Coach and educator in vocational training programs (PFI & UEC). He holds extensive technical experience in youth football at clubs such as CE Cerdanyola del Vallès and CE Europa, where he currently coaches the U12 team and coordinates the Camp de l’Àliga Football School. Specialized in individual player analysis and sports management, he combines field coaching with Primary Education studies

Víctor Corona: Researcher in linguistic anthropology at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). He has carried out participant observation and fieldwork at CE Europa and CANB, focusing his research interests on studying the role of linguistic and social practices within sporting activities.
